TPCG Awarded Greener Grounds Grant to Support Mardi Gras Cleanup Efforts

Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government (TPCG) has been awarded the Greener Grounds Grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) for FY25-26 in the amount of $6,438.00 to support cleanup and sustainability efforts during Mardi Gras.

As the second-largest Mardi Gras destination in Louisiana, Terrebonne Parish hosts more than ten parades over a 2.5-week celebration, welcoming over 10,000 residents and visitors. Mardi Gras provides a major boost to the local economy, attracting people for its vibrant parades, culture, cuisine, and family-friendly atmosphere.

The Greener Grounds Grant will fund educational signage focused on litter awareness and recycling, as well as cleanup and recycling supplies to help maintain the parade routes before, during, and after events.

Working alongside local businesses along the parade routes, TPCG is committed to keeping Terrebonne Parish clean and welcoming for all. These businesses contribute resources such as staff time, supplies, and outreach, recognizing that a cleaner environment benefits residents, visitors, and local commerce while building community pride.

This initiative reinforces Terrebonne Parish’s commitment to a cleaner, greener Mardi Gras and a sustainable future for the community.
