Terrebonne Parish Tree Board Offers Tree Renewal Grants
The purpose and goal of the Terrebonne Parish Tree Board is primarily the planting and preservation of trees on Parish owned public properties.
However, from time to time there are circumstances that warrant the offering of a grant program to private citizens and businesses.
The Terrebonne Parish Tree Board has voted to again offer a tree grant. First, our area has experienced an extraordinary drought this past summer which has again led to the beginning of damage to many of our area trees. Second, every effort is being made on a public level to further the beautification of our Parish. To accomplish these goals, there is a need for participation from both private and public sectors.
The Project Tree Renewal Grant will be offered for a two-fold purpose with the following match:
- In an effort to save the trees that are capable of being saved, we are offering up to a 50% match for the repair, maintenance and fertilization of damaged, yet viable trees
- To assure the continued beautification of Terrebonne Parish we are offering up to a 50% match for the replacement of trees that are not capable of being saved.
- The repaired or replaced tree must be visible on main through-fares in prominent view to enhance our community
- The tree must be a native tree or indigenous to our area. The tree must be fully identified and verifiable, as no invasive species will be considered.
- The grant will be available until the end of 2012 or until funds are depleted.
- Grant applications will be considered and voted on each month.
- In the Planning & Zoning Office located in the Terrebonne Parish Government Tower
- Applications are available for printing from the Parish website.
