The Big Read Returns To Terrebonne Parish
The Houma Regional Arts Council is pleased to announce that it has once again received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to host The Big Read in its six parish area. The Big Read gives communities the opportunity to come together to read, discuss, and celebrate one of 23 selections from American and world literature.
The Houma Regional Arts Council is one of seventy-eight communities that have been selected to participate this year. Activities will take place from February to June 2013, where our region will focus on Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried.
Executive Director of the Houma Regional Arts Council Glenda Toups said, “The last five years of the Big Read have been very successful in engaging the people in our area to read these classic American novels. It’s our honor and a pleasure to bring quality arts and cultural programming to the region and the Big Read allows us to continue to support the literary arts in the communities of south Louisiana.” Please visit www.neabigread.org or call The Houma Regional Arts Council at 985-873-6367 for more information.
