TPCG Section 8 Rental Assistance Program Taking Applications

The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government Section 8 Rental Assistance Program will be accepting applications March 4, 2015 - March 20, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. During this time, applications may be picked up in the lobby of the Department of Housing and Human Services, 809 Barrow Street, Houma, Louisiana. Income verification must be provided by the applicant and attached to the application. Eligibility Guidelines for number in household and annual gross income are as follows:
  • One-person household-$20,450.
  • Two-person household-$23,350.
  • Three-person household-$26,250.
  • Four-person household-$29,150.
  • Five-person household-$31,500.
  • Six-person household-$33,850.
  • Seven-person household-$36,150.
  • Eight-person household-$38,500.
If any applicant qualifies for one of the following local preferences, documentation must be submitted with the application. Local Preferences are as follows, for a family whose head of household is:
  • Working. Head, spouse, or sole household member has been working for the last three months at 20 hours a week or more. Document with check stubs for the last three months. Head and spouse or sole household member is 62 years old or older or is a person with disabilities will qualify for the working preference.
  • Continuing Education. Document with student enrollment. Eligible minimum 12 hours.
  • Disabled. Head of household or any household member. Document with social security award letter or statement from physician.
  • Local Residency. Document with current State of LA pictured ID stating current physical address. Applicants who are working in Terrebonne Parish will receive above preference.
  • Honorably Discharged Veteran. Document with discharge papers.
The Section 8 Rental Assistance Program is not an emergency assistance program. All eligible applications will be placed on the Section 8 waiting list by local preferences and date/time of receipt.
