La Highway 24 Couplet System Public Hearing June 18th

It has been proposed that the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development (LADOTD) and South Central Planning & Development Commission (SCP&DC) explore the possibility of continuing the LA Highway 24 Couplet System (One-Way) along East Park Avenue (north) and East Main Street (south) across the Twin Spans ending at Howard Avenue (LA Highway 661). When new transportation projects are proposed, it is customary to hold public meetings in the affected area in order to inform residents, business owners, and the general public. These public meetings are helpful in that they provide everyone an opportunity to voice concerns, show support, and convey ideas about a project "on the record" before it begins the transportation planning process. The meeting will also allow local leaders to weigh public demand and support for the project. At the meeting, LADOTD and SCP&DC will explain what has been proposed, provide maps and drawings that will help convey the size and scale of the project, and give details about the impact the project will have on traffic patterns in the area. Information collected will help SCP&DC in drafting the project's "Purpose and Need" statement for the LADOTD's "Stage 0" - essentially an application to begin planning the project. This public notice is to advise that a meeting will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the East Park Recreation Center, 8533 Park Avenue, Houma, LA at 6:00 p. m. Citizens may also submit their views, concerns, and comments via e-mail to the Terrebonne Parish Council at tpcgcoun@tpcg.org. Comments should be submitted by June 15, 2015 so that they may be presented at the meeting.
